UB40 Royal Albert Hall, London

On 25 June, I was invited along to UB40’s 40th Anniversary performance at the Royal Albert Hall, London. It was a sold out show in the historic 5,000 capacity venue. Featuring support acts from fellow Birmingham band, Kioko and DJ Gold Dubs, the crowd sang along to every song and the final encore literally lit up the auditorium with a host of lighters and torches. The band also welcomed onstage fellow music legend Paul Young.
A big surprise was the visit of famed British statesman, Jeremy Corbyn who had this to say about the band: “UB40 has been an authentic socialist voice representing the many not the few for 40 years. They offered hope to millions in the 1980s when they sang with justified rage about the Thatcher government’s devastating effects on communities and eight years into another period of Tory government, they continue to offer that voice. Long may they last.”

Thank you UB40 for taking so many of us around the world on this journey for the last 40 years ! ONE LOVE !
